Mahana Reds with Theo's Dad!

This is really cool and is really important to our school. Apples are why Mahana School is here in the first place after all. Let's get behind the Mahana Reds, and it makes a really cool name for our school sports teams.

The Power of The Blog

I came across an amazing blog recently. It is written by a 9 year old girl who decided in April to blog about her school lunches that were served at her local school. Overnight, her blog got more than 20,000 views. Since then, there has been a plethora of interest in her blog including Jamie Oliver, her local town council, other famous chefs and thousands of 'tweeters' who protested the ban that was subsequently placed on her blogging.

Not only has she had an impact on her local community, her blog has been successful in raising thousands of pounds to help feed hundreds of people in Malawi. You can check out her blog NEVERSECONDS here. Last time I looked, her blog had more than 5,800,000 views. Incredible!

This is a timely reminder that when we blog something, it has a potentially world-wide audience. How exciting to be able to share our learning, ideas and experiences with so many people.  Also, the fact that Martha's blog has raised money to help others is inspirational.

Take a moment to check out the NEVERSECONDS blog, and associated news items. It would be great if you could leave a comment on this post sharing your thoughts on Martha's blog and to share any ideas you have for blog posts for the future.

Fun with Maths Problems

Whilst browsing some local blogs, I found this link on Moturoa's (Appleby School) to some cool problem solving questions. Notice that the title of each extra link gives you a clue on how to solve them, eg. Draw a Picture, Make a Link. Check them out here.
